Parla ("we", "our", "us") is an AI speech coaching application. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
1. Information We Collect
- Voice recordings — Audio you record during practice sessions is sent to our server for transcription and AI coaching through OpenAI. Recordings are processed to provide transcripts, feedback, rewritten speech, and playback.
- Optional voice clone — If you choose to clone your voice, your consent and voice sample are used to create a voice model through ElevenLabs. You can delete your cloned voice from the app profile screen.
- Name — Your first name, entered during onboarding, stored locally on your device.
- Progress data — XP, streaks, completed lessons, session history. Stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage.
- Subscription data — Purchase transactions are handled by RevenueCat and Apple. We receive entitlement status only; we never see your payment card details.
- Device identifiers — Anonymous identifiers used by RevenueCat to manage subscriptions.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To transcribe your speech and generate AI coaching feedback.
- To synthesize improved speech audio via ElevenLabs text-to-speech.
- To track your in-app progress, streaks, and XP (locally on device).
- To manage your subscription status via RevenueCat.
3. Third-Party Services
- OpenAI — Processes audio for transcription and text for rewriting. OpenAI Privacy Policy

4. Data Retention
Practice recordings are not stored permanently on Parla servers after processing. Optional cloned voices are stored by ElevenLabs until you delete them from the app. Your progress data lives on your device and is removed when you uninstall the app. We do not maintain server-side user accounts.
5. Children's Privacy
Parla is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
6. Your Rights
Uninstalling the app removes locally stored data. You can delete an optional cloned voice from the Profile screen. For questions or data requests, contact us at the address below.
